The Community of Madrid has organized an innovative 1,000-drone spectacle, the first of its kind in Spain, to commemorate May 2nd, alongside a broad cultural program and historical reenactments.

Named Madrid en el Cielo (Madrid in the Sky), the aerial exhibition will feature a thousand drones operating simultaneously in the Parque de la Cuña Verde de Latina. This twelve-minute event will showcase ten scenes and up to sixteen figures inspired by the region's history, symbols, and cultural heritage.
The spectacle, organized in collaboration with Indra Group, will take place on Saturday, May 2nd, at 10:00 PM and will be free of charge. Its celebration coincides with the 50th anniversary of the Latina district, adding special significance to the festivity.

"We have designed a program aimed at all audiences, bringing together symbolic elements of Madrid's identity."

This event will unfold on Saturday, May 2nd, starting at 12:00 PM, with parades, horses, carriages, and artillery pieces, moving from Alcalá Street to the Puerta del Sol and the esplanade of Puente del Rey.
The Puente del Rey esplanade will be the main stage for free concerts, featuring performances by artists and groups such as Berkana, Los Seminuevos, and Lobos Negros on April 30th; Bely Basarte and Judeline on May 1st; and joseluis and Alcalá Norte on May 2nd. The program is complemented by a zarzuela concert by the Orquesta y Coro de la Comunidad de Madrid (ORCAM), traditional folklore proposals, and the first Folklore Gathering on May 3rd.
Additionally, the Fiesta de Las Mayas will be celebrated in various municipalities of the region, with songs, pilgrimages, and exhibitions, and municipal band concerts will take place in streets and squares as part of the Música en el aire program. The film Rondallas, by Daniel Sánchez Arévalo, will also be screened as part of the cultural activities.
