The city of Madrid is set to construct an indoor auditorium with a capacity for over 20,000 people, located next to the Riyadh Air Metropolitano, as part of an ambitious project that will transform the former Aquatic Center into a multifunctional complex.

The initiative, presented last Tuesday, is spearheaded by Live Nation, Oak View Group (OVG), and Atlético de Madrid, through the company Barsento. This development aims to transform the area into a premier center for entertainment, sports, and education.

"For nearly 15 years, we have been looking for a way to bring this site to life, convinced that it could become the best leisure and entertainment space in the city. Today we can say that we have succeeded, because the key has been to find truly complementary activities that will generate real value for the district."

The new auditorium will be the centerpiece of this complex, designed to host major musical and cultural events. With a capacity exceeding 20,000 people, Madrid will position itself as a global benchmark for large-scale events, meeting the growing demand for live performances.

"Madrid is going to become one of the great residences for artists in the world, a major music hub."

The project is structured around three main pillars: the indoor auditorium, an educational campus for over 2,300 students led by the UAX Group, offering programs in health, sports, and entertainment, and a sports center managed by GOfit, which will provide facilities for up to 9,000 users, including indoor and outdoor pools.
Construction is set to begin soon and is expected to be completed by the end of 2030. The complex will span a plot of 66,843 square meters, with a buildable area of 90,000 square meters, and a construction budget exceeding 360 million euros. This initiative, while independent, complements the future Atlético de Madrid Sports City, solidifying the Metropolitano area as a significant hub for leisure and activity.
The concession for the plot, processed by the City Council and awarded for a period of 75 years, is expected to generate over 141 million euros for municipal coffers. Additionally, the concessionaire will implement sports programs for children, youth, and seniors, as well as scholarships to support vulnerable students, enhancing the project's social impact.
