The Minister of Presidency, Justice, and Local Administration, Miguel Ángel García Martín, reported this decision after the Governing Council meeting. The region believes that the state initiative will severely affect the provision of essential services.
“"There is chaos in national migration policy."
García Martín criticized the migration management of Pedro Sánchez's Executive, denouncing the lack of concrete data on the number of people who could benefit from this regularization. According to the minister, this lack of definition exacerbates the situation and could have direct consequences on social cohesion and the functioning of public services in the region.
The Madrid spokesperson warned that regularization could lead to a breakdown of social cohesion, increased pressure on public resources, and a "pull effect" that would benefit human trafficking mafias. The absence of a clear figure for immigrants who could benefit from the process in Madrid is one of the main problems, according to García Martín.
The regional Executive reproached the central government for not explaining the data and for contradictions between different ministries regarding the measure's impact. This lack of information prevents an accurate anticipation of consequences in areas such as healthcare, education, and social services, leading the Community of Madrid to consider the state initiative irresponsible.
