The 2026 FIFA World Cup, taking place in the United States, Mexico, and Canada until July 19, has already spread its excitement to the Spanish capital. Madrid has fully embraced the tournament's celebration, offering fans the chance to follow the matches together through giant screens and special programming in various entertainment venues.
The Spanish National Team will debut in the group stage against Cabo Verde, followed by matches against Saudi Arabia and Uruguay. To experience these games with maximum excitement, the capital has activated multiple meeting points promising a stadium-like atmosphere, music, gastronomy, and complementary activities.
One of the main hubs will be Plaza de Colón, where the Royal Spanish Football Federation will set up the Plaza Selección. This free space, open until capacity is reached on match days, will feature giant screens, leisure areas, live music, an official store, a museum with trophies, and a gastronomic offering to liven up the pre- and post-match periods.
Sala Equis joins the World Cup festivities with CASA MUNDIAL, a special event for Spain's debut on June 15. Organized by JD and Adidas, it will combine the live broadcast of the match against Cabo Verde on a giant screen with video games, foosball, a market, and themed spaces. Access will be free, with prior reservation required.
Rita’s Mirador, located on the outdoor platform of the Riyadh Air Metropolitano stadium, will broadcast the National Team's matches whenever the schedule allows, offering an afternoon experience with music, bars, and gastronomy in an open-air football atmosphere.
Cines Yelmo cinemas are also joining the celebration, screening at least two of Spain's matches: on June 15 against Cabo Verde and on June 21 against Saudi Arabia. The chain plans to extend the programming if the National Team advances, offering special ticket and menu packages in both traditional and Premium rooms.
The Palacio de Vistalegre will host a large 'watch party' for the debut, organized by Lay’s, which will combine football, entertainment, and culture with giant screens and the presence of personalities such as David Villa.
Shopping centers are also preparing: Oasiz Madrid will install a giant LED screen for Spain's first two matches, while X-Madrid will open El Xiringuito, a space inspired by beach bars with sand and a gastronomic area.
For lovers of the classic bar atmosphere, venues like The Irish Rover, The James Joyce, La Fontana de Oro, QW Bar & Pub, O’Connell St. Pub, Beer’s Corner, 87 Millas Sport Bar, Fratina Sport Bar, and Distrito 7 | Sports & Drinks are poised to be regular meeting points. Adding to these is La Lupita Cantina, presenting itself as the Mexican World Cup headquarters in Madrid.
With this diverse range of options, Madrid approaches the 2026 World Cup as an event that transcends sport, offering experiences for all audiences. Spain's debut against Cabo Verde will be the first thermometer of this World Cup fever that promises to fill the city with screens and cheers.
