Madrid is preparing to host the inaugural edition of Madhorror, an ambitious festival aiming to establish it as the "great European capital of terror" from October 30 to November 2 at Ifema Madrid.

The event, unveiled at the fairgrounds, will feature a diverse program including cinema, comics, video games, immersive experiences, and Halloween-themed activities, seeking to create a hub for fans of the fantasy and horror genres.
Madhorror will span over 25,000 square meters across Hall 14, the South Auditorium, and a themed outdoor area. Key attractions include three horror tunnels, escape rooms, makeup and comic workshops, interactive games, and an extensive gaming zone.
Fantastic and horror cinema will be a cornerstone, with screenings of prominent international films. The festival will also host thematic exhibitions, such as a retrospective of the special effects studio DDT and a display celebrating the 40th anniversary of Aliens, alongside a tribute to Chicho Ibáñez Serrador.

"Madrid wants to become that European capital of terror, with an event that mixes cinema, convention, fair, experiential proposal, and popular celebration."

Hike Hostench · Artistic Director of the festival
The festival will welcome renowned guests such as Linda Blair (star of The Exorcist), Robert Englund (Freddy Krueger), Michael Biehn, Malcolm McDowell, and Juan Antonio Bayona, who will celebrate the twentieth anniversary of The Orphanage.
Dedicated spaces for video games and board games, titled 'Playable Nightmares,' will explore extended reality and iconic genre universes. Comics will also be prominently featured with authors like Jorge Fornés and Eugenio Mira, and live podcast recordings will take place.
The program will be rounded out with contests, parades like the Zombie Walk and Day of the Dead, roundtables, conferences, and masterclasses. Ifema Madrid's Executive Vice President, Daniel Martínez, emphasized the strategic commitment to the cultural sector as an economic and social driver.

"I can't conceive of getting along badly with someone who has a good time at Halloween because, in a way, it cancels out a lot of people who do have a bad time. Then, only the best remain."
