The Community of Madrid is gearing up to commemorate May 2nd with an extensive cultural program that includes concerts, historical reenactments, and an innovative drone show.

The celebrations will kick off on April 30 with an inaugural concert at the Puente del Rey esplanade, featuring performances by Berkana, Los Seminuevos, and Lobos Negros, a pioneering rockabilly band in Spain. On May 1, the same stage will host singer-songwriter Bely Basarte, followed by Lara Fernández leading Judeline.
One of the most anticipated events will be the historical reenactment of May 2nd, organized by the Asociación Histórico-Cultural Voluntarios de Madrid 1808-1814. This will take place on Saturday, May 2, at various locations across the capital, from the Puerta del Sol to the Puente del Rey esplanade, passing through Alcalá Street.
That same evening, the Parque de la Cuña Verde de Latina will host “Madrid in the Sky,” a drone show that will project 10 simultaneous scenes to commemorate the date and representative monuments of the Community of Madrid. This event, in collaboration with Indra, will utilize 1,000 drones for 12 minutes.
On May 3, the final day of the festivities, Puente del Rey will host the I National Folklore Meeting, featuring groups from Castilla-La Mancha, the Community of Madrid, Andalusia, and Aragon. The program will also include the participation of the ORCAM Orchestra and Choir of the Community of Madrid, presenting a zarzuela program, and the Asociación Cultural de Música y Danza Arrabel, with traditional melodies.
Various towns in the Community of Madrid, such as El Molar, Belmonte de Tajo, Brea de Tajo, Estremera, Fuentidueña de Tajo, and Colmenar Viejo, will also join the celebrations with activities and the traditional "mayas" procession. Other venues like the Teatros del Canal and the Real Coliseo de Carlos III in San Lorenzo de El Escorial will offer a diverse program of dance, cinema, and theater.
