The Madrid City Council has added 25 new vehicles to the Municipal Police fleet, with an investment of 2.8 million euros, to modernize its resources and improve citizen services.

The acquisition, presented at the Cavalry Squadron, includes four trucks for horse transport and 21 vans to be distributed among various police stations and services. This initiative is part of an ongoing effort to strengthen the resources of the Municipal Police.

"These vehicles represent another step in the historic reinforcement of the Municipal Police that we have been carrying out since 2019."

Since 2019, the force's fleet has grown by 140 units, from 1,058 to 1,198 vehicles. The new vehicles are equipped with modern technology and are efficient, aiming to optimize the performance of officers for the benefit of Madrid citizens.
The 21 vans are divided into two main configurations: some will function as mobile offices for citizen services, and others will facilitate the technical and specialized work of the officers. Eight of these vans will be assigned to Citizen Service Offices in Integrated District Police Stations (CID), eight to the Traffic Judicial Police, and the remaining five to units such as the Diversity Management Police Station, Judicial Coordination, Environment, Air Support, and Road and Transport Support.
The four trucks, with double cabins and capacity for six horses each, will replace units that were between 19 and 22 years old. This renewal is part of a broader strategy that has seen the incorporation of 331 new owned vehicles since 2019, with an investment of 10.7 million euros, and 753 rented vehicles, totaling an investment of 61.7 million euros in the fleet.
In addition to vehicle renewal, the Municipal Police workforce has been strengthened with the call for 2,800 positions since 2019, representing one-third of the total staff. Eight police stations have also been built, and nearly half of the 404 surveillance cameras planned for the city have been installed.
