The Community of Madrid has announced the creation of a new access point at the Estadio Metropolitano station, on Metro Line 7, with an investment of almost 9 million euros to improve mobility and connectivity with the new urban developments in the area.

The Minister of Housing, Transport and Infrastructure, Jorge Rodrigo, presented this initiative during his visit to the facilities. The project, which will be tendered with a budget of nearly 9 million euros and an execution period of 12 months, aims to optimize service for residents of the San Blas-Canillejas district and Atlético de Madrid fans.

"We are fortunate to have great stadiums in the region, such as the Riyadh Air Metropolitano and the Santiago Bernabéu, which go beyond sports and have become benchmarks in the cultural and leisure programming of the Community of Madrid. Therefore, public transport is fundamental to the experience of the fans and tourists who visit us."

The central feature of this action will be a partially circular ramp approximately 110 meters long and 6 meters wide. This solution has been chosen by the metropolitan company to manage large passenger flows, avoiding the congestion that often occurs on conventional stairs.

"It is an infrastructure through which around 18,000 people pass on match or concert days."

The design of the new access will integrate with the Sports City project, currently under development near the station. This will allow both users coming from this new area and those heading directly to the Riyadh Air Metropolitano stadium to use it.
The minister detailed that, thanks to this initiative, Metro will have a second lobby of more than 1,200 square meters. This will include 26 control points, eight escalators, and five new elevators connecting to the platforms, significantly improving access and exit capacity, reducing waiting times, and enhancing accessibility for all users.
