Madrid's Metro service has been interrupted on sections of lines 2 and 5 due to an incident during renovation works in the Ventas area, where a gas pipe was accidentally cut.

Service on Madrid's Metro line 2 is currently suspended between the Alsacia and Retiro stations. Concurrently, line 5 is affected between Quintana and Núñez de Balboa.
Metro sources explained to Madridiario that the incident occurred during station renovation work. "As a precaution, it was decided to cut service on line 2 and line 5," the sources stated. The affected stations have been evacuated and temporarily closed.
Service on line 5 remains interrupted in both directions between Quintana and Núñez de Balboa due to technical reasons, with an estimated resolution time of over one hour.
