The countdown to the 2026 Football World Cup, set to take place between June 11 and July 19 in the United States, Mexico, and Canada, is already palpable in the Madrid Metro. The Community of Madrid has launched a themed train that will operate on Line 4, fully adorned with the colors and symbols of the Spanish National Football Team.
This special convoy, featuring images of several recognizable players from the national squad, aims to bring the World Cup atmosphere to the capital's public transport. The initiative, developed in collaboration with the Royal Spanish Football Federation, seeks to strengthen the bond between fans and the National Team during the competition.

In addition to the decoration, the train will facilitate the movement of supporters to Plaza de Colón, where a large Fan Zone will be set up to watch the championship matches live. With this action, the Madrid subway aims to once again become a showcase for major sports and cultural events linked to the city.
Coinciding with the launch of this train, wrapped in 'La Roja' (the Spanish team's nickname), the Metro has also introduced a special collection of jerseys under the name Metro FC. This clothing line creates a visual interplay between some of the historical World Cup champion teams and different lines of the Madrid network. Designs include references to Diego Maradona's Argentina, Romário's Brazil, Lothar Matthäus's Germany, and Zinedine Zidane's France.
Spain, world champions in South Africa 2010, holds a prominent place in this collection with a jersey inspired by the colors of Line 2. The garments will be available from May 14 both in the Metro's online store and at sales points in the Ópera, Sol, and Plaza de Castilla stations.
This new campaign adds to other recent collaborations between the Metro and the Spanish Football Federation. Last year, the Plaza de España station was transformed to support the Spanish Women's National Team during the European Championship held in Switzerland, with a visual intervention that filled the space with messages of encouragement and references to the national team.
