The Madrid Metro service will extend its operating hours until 2:30 AM on the night of Saturday, June 6, to Sunday, June 7, with up to a 125% increase on nine key lines.

The Community of Madrid has decided to extend Metro operating hours to facilitate travel during the visit of Pope Leo XIV to the capital. This measure is being taken in anticipation of a large influx of pilgrims and visitors for the scheduled events.
Regional president, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, announced this extension, which will coincide with the prayer vigil for young people at Plaza de Lima and in the vicinity of Paseo de la Castellana, areas expected to host a significant number of attendees.
The regional government aims to alleviate pressure on surface traffic, which will experience closures and restrictions, by reinforcing train and interurban bus services. An additional 100 vehicles will be deployed for these connections.
Madrid Metro will increase its service by up to 125% on lines 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10, adapting the deployment to high-attendance events and major connection hubs.
Furthermore, starting June 1, Metro will allow direct payment with contactless debit, credit, or prepaid bank cards at its 303 stations, using both physical cards and mobile devices or smartwatches.
The special operation will involve over 600 workers, including station staff, maintenance, and security personnel. The Municipal Transport Company of Madrid will also extend its services to meet mobility needs during the visit.
