This Sunday, Madrid will host the 48th edition of the Zurich Rock 'N' Roll Running Series Marathon Madrid, an event that will bring together 47,000 participants and lead to significant traffic restrictions and alterations to EMT services.

The competition, scheduled between 8:00 AM and 4:35 PM, will start at Paseo de la Castellana and finish at Paseo de Recoletos. Over 10,000 foreign runners from more than 110 countries are expected to participate.
The Madrid City Council has deployed a special operation involving the Municipal Police and Mobility Agents to ensure traffic flow and public safety. Restrictions will be implemented on numerous city arteries to accommodate the three race modalities: marathon (42 kilometers), half marathon (21 kilometers), and a 10-kilometer race.
From 7:15 AM, circulation will be limited on sections of Paseo de la Castellana, Avenida de Concha Espina, Padre Damián, Alberto Alcocer, Plaza de Castilla, Bravo Murillo, and Glorieta de Cuatro Caminos, among other roads. Areas such as Gran Vía, Plaza de Callao, Puerta del Sol, Carrera de San Jerónimo, Mayor, Bailén, and Plaza de España will also be affected.
Setup and dismantling operations for the event will require the closure of the central lanes of Paseo de Recoletos until 7:00 PM. Additionally, Paseo de la Castellana will be closed in different sections until 5:00 PM and 12:30 PM, respectively, and Plaza de Cibeles from 5:30 AM.
A total of 109 EMT bus lines will alter their routes or have their service temporarily suspended. Lines 3, 5, 149, and C03 will be suspended from their usual start time until approximately 1:00 PM. Citizens are advised to use public transport to attend the event, and for long-distance private vehicle travel, to use the M-30 and M-40 ring roads.
The Recoletos Cercanías station will have its north entrances closed until 9:00 PM, though the south entrance will remain open. For access to the start line, the Gregorio Marañón and Nuevos Ministerios Metro stations are nearby, and for the finish line, Colón and Banco de España.
