These actions are part of an ongoing monitoring and review plan aimed at optimizing the conditions of the bullring, which has been declared a Site of Cultural Interest. The initiative, promoted by the Ministry of Environment, Agriculture, and Interior, relies on thorough technical inspections to anticipate and mitigate potential risks before the start of each bullfighting season.
Among the completed improvements is the partial replacement of paving on the access stairs to the lower and upper tier galleries, while preserving the traditional aesthetics of the venue. Currently, interventions such as the renovation of walls and ceilings in the upper galleries, structural sanitation of walls, and reinforcement of constructive elements are nearing completion.
Additionally, the slaughterhouse and its accesses have been reconfigured to improve operational efficiency and protect other areas of the bullring. These works are crucial for the most important bullfighting event of the year, scheduled to begin on May 8th.
In addition to these immediate refurbishments, the Community of Madrid has approved a broader plan for a comprehensive renovation and modernization of Las Ventas, with a projected investment of over 40 million euros. This long-term project aims to prepare the bullring for its centenary in 2031.
