The factory, covering more than 4,300 m², consists of five sections. Four of these will house 14 industrial units of various types and sizes, designed to accommodate different business projects. The fifth section will serve as a central services hub, including administrative areas, an auditorium, exhibition space, a coworking area, meeting rooms, and a laboratory.
This project, executed by the Works and Equipment Area, was financed with funds from the SURES Plan, an initiative for the development of Madrid's southern and eastern districts. The construction of this infrastructure reinforces the municipal commitment to consolidating and revitalizing the city's productive sector, offering physical accommodation, services, and specialized training to small and medium-sized enterprises.
The La Atalayuela factory is part of Madrid Capital 21, the municipal Equipment Plan for the 2019-2027 period. This plan foresees the construction of 96 new facilities across the city's 21 districts, including nurseries, senior and day care centers, sports centers, cultural centers, and libraries. Currently, expectations have been exceeded, with 101 facilities completed or under construction, totaling an investment of almost 580 million euros.
This is the second industrial factory built in Madrid since 2022, joining a similar facility in Villaverde and an existing one in Vicálvaro since 2011. The Vicálvaro and Villaverde factories currently host 21 companies, which as of December 31, 2025, generated 154 direct jobs and a turnover exceeding 10.2 million euros. With the incorporation of the Villa de Vallecas factory, the city will have a total of 42 industrial units for companies with sustainable, technological, and high value-added projects in their early stages of manufacturing.
The network of factories is a fundamental pillar of the Madrid City Industry Plan 2025-2027, agreed upon with business, trade union, and educational stakeholders on September 22. Its objective is to reactivate the capital's industry, supporting industrial entrepreneurship, innovation, and sustainability, and improving competitiveness through a collaborative ecosystem between companies, administration, and knowledge centers.
