This championship, considered the second most important competition in its category in Spain, will be held between May 14 and 17 at the Fuencarral-El Pardo facilities. The official presentation was attended by the delegate councilor for Sports, as well as former tennis player Emilio Sánchez Vicario and other personalities from the tennis world.
“"The Madrid City Council firmly believes in sport as a tool for integration, coexistence, and social transformation. We will continue to support initiatives like this because an open city like Madrid must continue to advance towards an increasingly accessible, inclusive, and committed sports model for everyone."
This year's edition will feature international players and eight national athletes, including Spanish Paralympic medalists, who hold prominent positions in the world ranking. Their presence underscores the growth and global projection of this tournament. The delegate councilor for Sports emphasized that this sports discipline offers “great life lessons, as each match will be an example of perseverance, passion, and ability to overcome challenges.”
In the previous edition, held in 2025, the titles went to Daniel Rodrigues in the men's category and Kgothatso Montjane in the women's. In the quad specialty, the winner was Ymanitu Silva. The men's and women's doubles pairs also saw Casey Ratzlaff and Maikel Scheffers, and Maayan Zikri and Jinte Bos, respectively, crowned champions.
Since 2020, the Madrid City Council, in collaboration with the Royal Spanish Tennis Federation, has maintained an adapted tennis school for people in wheelchairs. This initiative is carried out at the Marqués de Samaranch Municipal Sports Center, located in Arganzuela, reinforcing the city's commitment to inclusive sports.
