The regional government has presented a positive assessment, based on data from the Transfusion Center, attributing this progress to reinforced recruitment campaigns and diversified registration channels. This favorable trend is crucial for improving the chances of finding compatible matches for patients requiring transplants.
Of the new donors incorporated in 2025, 1,404 registered at hospitals in Madrid. Additionally, 688 individuals joined through the Virtual DaMO Plan, an initiative designed to integrate regular blood donors, a group already sensitized to donation.
“"The increase in young people in the registry is the most relevant data for the regional government. This profile offers the best conditions for bone marrow donation."
The Tour Médula campaign played a key role in achieving the objectives, adding 1,700 people to the registry through activities at universities, companies, educational centers, and with the State Security Forces and Corps. This strategy aimed to expand the donor base in environments with greater potential for awareness and mobilization.
Recruiting young people is a priority in health campaigns, both for medical criteria and for the need to maintain an updated and effective registry that guarantees a better response to patient needs. The first months of 2026 already show a continuation of this trend, with 1,632 new donors, representing 42% of the annual forecast and consolidating the region's commitment to expanding and rejuvenating its bone marrow donor base.
