The Madrid City Council, through the Foro por Madrid, has approved an ambitious action program for 2026 that includes 11 new impactful urban projects for the city, resulting from public-private collaboration.

The plenary meeting of the Foro por Madrid, chaired by Mayor José Luis Martínez-Almeida and held at the EMT Madrid Operations Center in Carabanchel, has greenlit key initiatives. These include the comprehensive rehabilitation of the Madrid Cable Car and the restoration of the emblematic Cibeles Fountain, symbols of Madrid's heritage.
Additionally, AteneIA, an intelligent system for supervising and managing municipal urban services, will be implemented. These are joined by eight other proposals selected through the public-private collaboration platform, active since November 2023.

"In two years, the public-private collaboration materialized through Foro por Madrid has managed to promote 50 projects and initiatives that have benefited more than 2.3 million Madrid residents thanks to a shared investment of nearly 4 million euros."

Among the approved projects are the Referente Habitacional, which seeks to offer housing solutions to homeless individuals, and the re-naturalization of the courtyard of the Javier de Miguel Public School in Puente de Vallecas, benefiting over 400 students. The rehabilitation of the water sheet of the Temple of Debod, a citizen training classroom for fire prevention by the Municipal Fire Department, and the promotion of the Madrid Alliance against bullying in childhood and adolescence are also planned.
For the first time, the 2026 program includes three projects proposed by some of the 29 companies or civil society entities that are part of the forum. The mayor highlighted that, in just two years, the Foro por Madrid has driven 50 initiatives that have benefited more than 2.3 million Madrid residents, with a joint investment close to 4 million euros.
The Foro por Madrid is consolidating its role as a catalyst for urban transformation, covering strategic areas such as sustainability, technological innovation, cultural heritage recovery, social inclusion, and the city's international projection. Its approach integrates business knowledge, public sector operational capacity, and active civil society involvement to design efficient and innovative solutions.
