The agreement, reached between the mayors of both cities, includes the urgent transfer of the vehicles this Friday. The gas-powered buses have already completed their operational cycle in the capital and are ready for their new role.
In addition to the vehicles, Madrid's assistance comprises the dispatch of support materials such as vans, a crane, spare parts, and specialized technical personnel. Training will also be provided to Burgos drivers to ensure a swift re-establishment of services.
The fire in Burgos rendered nearly half of its bus fleet inoperable, forcing the city council to reorganize urban transport and seek immediate solutions. Madrid's temporary donation will help restore a significant portion of operations while long-term alternatives are developed.
“"This measure provides an immediate solution that simplifies technical and logistical management."
The donation will initially last for six months, during which the Burgos City Council will continue to work on the full recovery of its service and the planning of new infrastructure.
