The initiative, part of the State Pact against the Climate Emergency, aims to safeguard public health through a network of accessible locations. These spaces will remain operational until September 30th, providing a suitable environment to mitigate climate impacts.
Key locations in the capital include institutions such as the Círculo de Bellas Artes, the Reina Sofía Museum, the Matadero Madrid complex, and the San Antón Church. Furthermore, the network encompasses 43 municipal neighborhood markets and facilities belonging to the Tagus Hydrographic Confederation.
The Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge has released a technical guide to facilitate the addition of new centers to this network. Interested establishments must meet diagnostic and accessibility requirements to be included in the official map, which already identifies over 1,100 shelters across the country.
