The Mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, has firmly denied any plans for the expansion of the Valdemingómez technology park, asserting that the city council is not considering the incorporation of new plots into the facility.

Speaking at a press conference held at the Palacio de Cibeles, the Madrid mayor explained that the site retains its current surface area and environmental authorization. According to Martínez-Almeida, the park's operation relies on an internal division into cells, allowing for the use of adjacent areas as one becomes full.
"Valdemingómez will not be expanded," stated the mayor, thereby rejecting claims of plans to add two new plots. He clarified that the site "is exactly the same" and that the perceived expansion is due to internal compartmentalization enabling the progressive use of different zones.
The mayor reiterated that his administration has no intention of expanding the facilities and highlighted the current municipal government's progress in recycling processes.
Regarding the plant's future and the potential cessation of incineration, Martínez-Almeida indicated that any future decisions would be contingent upon increased recycling rates and the achievement of targets set by the European Union.
