“"The City Council wants to address any decision on this operation together with the residents. The Padre Damián parking lot has been ruled out, but the Castellana one presents a different situation due to its advanced stage and its potential usefulness in alleviating the parking deficit in the area."

Madrid City Council is in discussions with neighborhood associations surrounding the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium to move forward with a parking project on the Paseo de la Castellana, which will include spaces for residents.
The municipal administration considers the Paseo de la Castellana infrastructure to be well advanced in its processing and beneficial for the area. Conversely, it has decided to discard the parking lot planned for Padre Damián due to social rejection and legal difficulties stemming from a ruling by the Superior Court of Justice of Madrid (TSJM).
The municipal spokesperson explained that the goal is to find a reasonable solution to the neighborhood's needs, especially regarding the number of reserved spaces for residents and other potential improvements. Conversations with residents are progressing positively, aiming to find common ground to make the project viable.
The current stance of the City Council aligns with the position set by the mayor last October, when the option to appeal the TSJM ruling was practically closed. That judicial decision upheld the annulment of the concession for works to build two parking lots, one in Padre Damián and another on the Paseo de la Castellana, in addition to a planned tunnel.
