The highest municipal authority in Madrid has demanded that the Government Delegate increase the number of National Police officers in Paraíso Park, located in the San Blas-Canillejas district. This request arises from a serious incident in the area and comes on the eve of a meeting convened by the Government Delegation.
“"He had to wait until there was a death."
From the Casa de la Villa, the mayor criticized the Government Delegate's delayed reaction, recalling that the district councilor had repeatedly requested a meeting to address the park's issues. He emphasized that, while the Madrid City Council implements a comprehensive plan for Paraíso Park, the responsibility for public safety lies with the Government Delegation.
Furthermore, the mayor has urged the Government Delegate to explain why he did not respond to the councilor's previous communications and why he refused to meet with her earlier. He also requested clarification on whether he will commit to deploying more National Police personnel in the affected area. He warned that the upcoming meeting should not be merely a photo opportunity or serve to “dilute responsibilities” regarding security matters.
