Madrid City Council is evaluating the possibility of installing giant screens in Vallecas for Rayo Vallecano fans to follow the Conference League final, a historic event for the club.

The initiative, promoted by the Más Madrid councilor in Puente de Vallecas, seeks to offer a safe and accessible space for residents to collectively enjoy the match. The final, which will be played in Leipzig (Germany) on Wednesday, May 27, has generated great anticipation among Vallecas fans.

"I request that this District Board, together with the competent areas of the Madrid City Council, evaluate the installation of giant screens in our district. The historic moment the club is experiencing and the enormous excitement it has generated among Vallecas fans make it necessary for institutions to rise to the occasion and provide public spaces where residents can gather to watch the match safely, accessibly, and collectively."

The proposal suggests placing the screens around the Vallecas Stadium, possibly in the fairgrounds of Payaso Fofó Park, a location considered ideal for hosting hundreds of people in a popular and family-friendly atmosphere. It is highlighted that Vallecas lives football as part of its collective identity and that this event transcends sports, representing the pride of a hardworking neighborhood.
The City Council has indicated that the most reasonable option for safety and logistics would be to install the screens inside the stadium itself, although they remain open to studying different scenarios. On other occasions, such as the 2024 Champions League final, Madrid teams have enabled their stadiums for important match viewings.
Rayo Vallecano has achieved a historic milestone by reaching its first European final, eliminating French side Strasbourg in the semifinals. They will face Crystal Palace, another neighborhood team, in the Conference League, UEFA's third-tier competition. To date, no Spanish team has managed to lift this trophy.
