The Madrid City Council has announced that the capital no longer experiences large street drinking gatherings, attributing this improvement to the "significant pressure" exerted to prevent massive concentrations of young people consuming alcohol in public spaces.

The deputy mayor of Madrid, in a recent interview, highlighted that the current situation has "substantially improved" compared to previous years. At that time, the city recorded large gatherings in parks, which even led to the closure of numerous green spaces to contain these meetings.

"The capital no longer has large street drinking gatherings thanks to the significant pressure exerted by the City Council to prevent large concentrations of young people consuming alcohol in public spaces."

The municipal spokesperson maintains that the current reality is different and that Madrid no longer regularly registers large street drinking gatherings. However, she acknowledges that isolated incidents can still occur, especially in university environments.
She specifically pointed to the area around the Complutense University of Madrid and the periods after exams as scenarios where concentrations of young people might appear. Despite this, she insists that these cases no longer correspond to the phenomenon of large street drinking gatherings that the city experienced in other eras.
