The Spanish capital is preparing for an unprecedented night of cultural celebration. The 'White (and Yellow) Night', inspired by the traditional Noche en Blanco, extends its activities from midnight on Saturday to the early hours of Sunday. This initiative aims to bring cultural heritage closer to citizens, adding a symbolic touch with the Vatican's colors.
A total of 15 museums, foundations, and cultural entities are joining this proposal. In addition to their permanent collections, many of these spaces will present works selected for their connection to the papal magisterium. Among the participating venues are the Teatros del Canal, which will offer concerts and dance for young audiences until 5:00 AM, and the Jardín de Banca March, open until 4:00 AM.
The Network of Municipal Museums, under the Madrid City Council, will extend its opening hours until 2:00 AM. This network includes the Templo de Debod, the Museo de San Isidro, and the Museo de Historia de Madrid, where the Chapel and the 1830 cartographic model will be open to the public. Other institutions such as the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando, the Galería de las Colecciones Reales, Fundación Mapfre, the Prado Museum, the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, CaixaForum Madrid, Espacio Fundación Telefónica, and the Naval Museum will keep their doors open until midnight or 1:00 AM.
The Reina Sofía School of Music will offer an exclusive concert from 10:00 PM to 11:00 PM, being the only venue requiring prior registration due to its limited capacity. The Network of Historic Parishes will also open its doors during the night, allowing pilgrims and visitors to admire the architectural and monumental heritage of various churches in the capital.
As an exception to the general free access, Cines Verdi will extend its programming until 7:00 AM on Sunday with a special price of 4.90 euros. Screenings will include episodes of 'The Chosen', productions from 'Ciclo Hakuna', retrospectives by Juan Manuel Cotelo, and papal documentaries such as 'Pray for me: The Story of Francis'.
