The Community of Madrid is preparing to celebrate the May 2nd Festivities with a varied program that includes historical reenactments, free concerts, and an innovative drone show, offering activities for all audiences.

This year's May 2nd Festivities in the Community of Madrid will feature a prominent historical reenactment of the 1808 uprising in Puerta del Sol. Additionally, free concerts and performances will be offered with artists and groups such as Alcalá Norte, Bely Basarte, Judeline, joseluis, Lobos Negros, and Berkana. The main stage for these activities, taking place from April 30 to May 3, will be the Puente del Rey esplanade.
One of the most anticipated novelties is the first free simultaneous 1,000-drone show in Spain, to be held in the Cuña Verde de Latina park. The regional government, in collaboration with Indra, has designed “Madrid en el Cielo,” a 12-minute exhibition that will form 10 scenes and up to 16 figures inspired by the region's history and cultural heritage. This event coincides with the 50th anniversary of the Latina district.

"All these proposals reflect an open and welcoming region, and that is precisely what we want to convey in the celebration of May 2nd, our great festival, with music and performances for all tastes that combine tradition and modernity, with the aim that Madrid residents and visitors enjoy a quality cultural offer."

The program also includes the first Folklore Encounter, an anthology concert of zarzuela by the Orquesta y Coro de la Comunidad de Madrid (ORCAM), and the screening of the film Rondallas by Daniel Sánchez Arévalo. The reenactment of the 1808 uprising, led by the Asociación Histórico-Cultural Voluntarios de Madrid 1808-1814, will be staged at various points in the capital, including Alcalá Street, Puerta del Sol, and the Puente del Rey esplanade, featuring parades and historical episode representations.
The official poster for the festivities, unveiled at the Casa Museo Lope de Vega, incorporates symbolic elements of Madrid's tradition, such as the blue sky, the musical staff, Puerta del Sol, the illuminated M, the bullfighter's shoulder pad, the fan, the 'maya' figure, the cat, the sparrow, the Isabelina butterfly, the seven stars of the regional flag, and the Ursa Major, along with wild flowers and plants.
