The Community of Madrid is set to celebrate the Dos de Mayo festivities with a diverse cultural program featuring an innovative 1,000-drone show, concerts, and historical reenactments, running from April 30 to May 3.

The celebrations, presented by the regional Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Sport, will take place in various locations across the region, with the Puente del Rey esplanade and Puerta del Sol serving as main venues. The program aims to commemorate a "decisive date" in Madrid's history with "open, popular, and quality" proposals.

"The main hub of this edition will once again be the Puente del Rey esplanade, which will bring together great artists from very different generations."

The main novelty this year is the first free simultaneous 1,000-drone show in Spain, to be held in the Cuña Verde de Latina park. This event, named 'Madrid en el Cielo', has been designed in collaboration with Indra and will offer a 12-minute display with 10 scenes and up to 16 figures inspired by the history and cultural heritage of the region.
The drone exhibition will coincide with the 50th anniversary of the Latina district. Additionally, the program includes the first Folklore Encounter, an anthology concert of La Zarzuela by the Orchestra and Choir of the Community of Madrid (ORCAM), and the screening of the film Rondallas by Daniel Sánchez Arévalo.
The festivities will also commemorate the uprising of the people of Madrid against the French occupation of 1808 with a historical reenactment organized by the Asociación Histórico-Cultural Voluntarios de Madrid 1808-1814.
