The Community of Madrid has presented its strategic plan to consolidate the region as an international epicenter of higher education, with initiatives ranging from promoting Spanish in science to integrating Artificial Intelligence into academic life.

The project, named «Madrid, university region,» stems from the collaboration between various ministries of the regional government and aims to transform the region into the «international home» of Higher Education. This plan is based on fundamental pillars such as the promotion of Spanish in scientific and research fields, the incorporation of Artificial Intelligence into the academic environment, and a wide range of services for students.
Among the most notable measures, the development of a plan for student residences and housing under the «Plan VIVE universitario» brand has been announced. Additionally, university campuses are expected to open year-round, including summer months, with the aim of integrating the regional cultural and sports offerings into university life.

"We want to seize the opportunity to make Madrid the international home of research and innovation, especially in the language of Cervantes, which unites more than 600 million people."

Economically, the multi-year funding agreement for Madrid's public universities has been recalled, which foresees an investment of 14.8 billion euros until 2031. Specifically, the University of Alcalá will receive over 763 million euros, representing a budget increase of 38% compared to the previous period.
This financial stability will allow the University of Alcalá, the second most demanded institution in the region, to strengthen its autonomy and areas of excellence, such as Medicine, Computer Science, and Humanities. Furthermore, it has been confirmed that the Governing Council will soon approve the university's new Statutes, after receiving a favorable report from the Ministry of Education.
