The Minister of Health, Fátima Matute, has presented the main guidelines of the future Pharmacy Law, pending approval from the regional Legal Advisory Commission. Once passed, the region will be a pioneer in the distribution of medication and other health products, dispensed by both pharmacies and hospital services.
The main objective of this initiative is to "increase the effectiveness, adherence, and safety of treatments", ensuring the involvement of "qualified professionals". The new regulation also includes the "personalization" of drug dosages, a key measure for chronic and polymedicated patients, aiming to simplify the correct administration of doses.

The law will also regulate the necessary personnel to ensure continuous pharmaceutical care during on-call duties and vacation periods, as well as extended hours in exceptional situations. The aim is to provide a service "24 hours a day, 365 days a year".
Furthermore, procedures for the transfer of pharmacy establishments will be simplified to "streamline" these processes. Minister Matute emphasized the region's commitment to "bringing health where people need it".
