The initiative, promoted by the Department of Education, Science and Universities, aims to bolster teaching, research, and administrative teams. Of the total, 1,014 positions are designated for teaching and research staff, while 381 are allocated to management and service personnel.
The Complutense University of Madrid leads the distribution with 400 positions, followed by the Polytechnic University of Madrid with 366 and the Autonomous University of Madrid with 272. The remaining positions are divided among the Rey Juan Carlos University (168), the University of Alcalá (101), and the Charles III University of Madrid (88).
The offer is governed by the replacement rate, which allows for up to 120% of vacancies caused by retirements or departures to be filled in priority sectors. Furthermore, 15% of the positions are reserved for researchers under the Ramón y Cajal program to attract high-level scientific talent.
This staff reinforcement is part of the recent multi-year funding agreement signed for the 2026-2031 period, ensuring an investment of nearly 14.8 billion euros. With over 300,000 students, the Madrid university system remains the largest academic hub in Spain.
