This measure represents an increase in funds for direct allocations per child born or adopted in Madrid households. The goal is to sustain the high demand for these benefits, which support parents before and after the arrival of a new family member. With this economic injection, the total amount allocated for these items reaches 141.6 million euros this year.
Since the benefit was implemented in early 2022, 31,157 applications have been approved, mobilizing over 363 million euros. The financial support is distributed differently based on beneficiaries' ages: approximately 1,500 mothers under 19, nearly 8,500 aged 20-25, and over 20,500 women aged 26-30 have received these grants.
The aid consists of a recurring payment of 500 euros per month per child, received in advance from the 21st week of gestation and continuing for the child's first two years. In total, the payment period spans 29 months, amounting to 14,500 euros per child, with an identical scheme for adoption cases. The aim is to alleviate the initial financial pressure associated with raising a child.
This initiative is part of a broader plan of 80 actions for work-life balance and family protection (2022-2026), with a total allocation of 4.8 billion euros. Demographic impact is reflected in statistics from the National Statistics Institute (INE), showing a 3.3% increase in the region's birth rate in 2025, leading Spain. The expansion seeks to ensure all valid applications receive financial coverage.
