The Community of Madrid has allocated over 52.7 million euros for forest fire prevention and fighting, a 3.5% increase from the previous year, ahead of the high-risk season.

The total investment for the high-risk campaign, running from June 15th to September 30th, exceeds 52.7 million euros, marking a 3.5% increase compared to the previous season. The Minister of Environment, Agriculture, and Interior, Carlos Novillo, chaired the meeting of the Advisory Committee for the Civil Protection Plan for Forest Fires (INFOMA 2026) at the headquarters of the Madrid 112 Security and Emergency Agency (ASEM112) in Pozuelo de Alarcón.
Novillo highlighted that the region solidifies its position as the highest investor per hectare in Europe for fire prevention. This budgetary effort is complemented by a human resources reinforcement, increasing the device's staff to 6,110 professionals and volunteers, a 2.3% rise from last year.
The daily contingent includes 571 operators across 22 fire stations, 25 forest brigade teams, and 38 surveillance towers. The Community of Madrid will also utilize a Special Drone Group, 10 helicopters, satellites, and thermal cameras for continuous intervention.
Emergency coordination will fall under ASEM112 personnel, integrating over 2,100 members of the Fire Department, 350 Forest Agents, and 3,420 Civil Protection volunteers. The Immediate Logistic Response Team (ERIVE) will provide 100 operators and heavy vehicles, along with basic life support ambulances, to offer immediate medical and logistical support to frontline brigades.
