This development, known as Cañaveral 8, has now completed its construction and offers a variety of housing types: 34 two-bedroom units, 54 three-bedroom units (four of which are adapted for people with reduced mobility), and eight four-bedroom units. It also includes 144 parking spaces, four of which are accessible, and 96 storage rooms.
“"The commitment of the Madrid City Council to the residential development of this new area is firm. The municipal company is building over 1,200 affordable rental homes across 13 public protection developments."
These new apartments not only increase the public housing stock in the capital but also aim to facilitate access to affordable rental housing for young people and families with minor children, two of the groups facing the greatest difficulties in the housing market.
The rental price for these apartments will not exceed 30% of the household's income. The main objective is for the beneficiaries, mostly young people, to be able to become independent and have decent housing without it significantly impacting their income.
The homes were allocated in the lottery held last February to Madrid residents with incomes up to 3.5 times the IPREM. This means, for example, that a couple with two children could have a maximum gross annual income of approximately 44,000 euros to qualify for these properties.
The Cañaveral 8 development features two towers, allowing for double orientation and cross-ventilation in 100% of the homes. This multi-family building will also have extensive green areas with native plants, common spaces, and a children's play area, designed to foster social and community life.
