Authorities have authorized the return of 20,000 residents to eight municipalities in the Community of Madrid following the favorable evolution of the forest fire affecting the Sierra Oeste.

The lifting of restrictions, effective from 5:00 PM, affects the towns of Cadalso de los Vidrios, Cenicientos, Navalagamella, Navas del Rey, Rozas del Puerto Real, Aldea del Fresno, Chapinería, and Colmenar del Arroyo. The decision is based on the absence of hot spots and guaranteed safety on access roads.
Additionally, confinement has ended for another 14,000 citizens in Villa del Prado and San Martín de Valdeiglesias, although exceptions remain in specific residential areas such as Espinar del Alberche, Costa de Madrid, Ciudad san Ramón, Veracruz, Javacruz, and Javariega.
The regional government has begun planning the return process by setting up citizen assistance points. Despite the improvement, authorities remain cautious due to the forecast of rising temperatures starting Wednesday.
