The municipality has incorporated four surveillance drones and launched a training program in generative artificial intelligence. The goal is to optimize the use of the municipal security camera network and enhance citizen safety.
The initiative, presented by Mayor José de la Uz, aims to leverage technology for security. According to the mayor, the municipality has seen a significant decrease in crime since the implementation of the video surveillance system in 2018.
The new equipment includes two fixed-wing drones and two integrated into police vehicles. These drones will extend the surveillance radius up to 25 kilometers and expedite response to emergencies, accidents, or incidents in hard-to-reach areas.
In addition to security tasks, the drones will play a crucial role in preventing forest fires. Their thermal cameras and specialized sensors will facilitate the detection of high temperatures and collaboration with Civil Protection services in monitoring the natural environment.
The project also includes training agents in generative artificial intelligence tools for analyzing and managing images from municipal cameras, aiming to improve police operational efficiency.
