The Community of Madrid has been honored with the Grand Cross of Loyalty to Victims of Terrorism by the VITEPAZ association, acknowledging its continuous commitment to victims and their families.

The prestigious award was accepted by the regional ministers of Presidency, Justice and Local Administration, Miguel Ángel García Martín, and Housing, Transport and Infrastructure, Jorge Rodrigo, during a ceremony held at the Real Casa de Postas.
The event highlighted the crucial work of institutions, organizations, and professionals dedicated to upholding the memory, dignity, and rights of terrorism victims.
During his speech, García Martín reaffirmed the regional government's unwavering commitment to this group through policies and measures aimed at ensuring their care, support, and recognition, as well as preserving historical memory.
In turn, Rodrigo expressed gratitude for the distinction, emphasizing its particular significance as it comes from an organization composed of terrorism victims. He also underscored their role as a moral compass and their contribution to defending democratic values.
The Community of Madrid noted that since the enactment of the Law for the Protection, Recognition, and Memory of Victims of Terrorism in 2018, it has increased aid and resources for this group. By the end of 2026, regional investment in compensation, assistance, and support programs is projected to exceed 95 million euros.
According to regional government data, over 2,500 victims and their families have benefited from these measures, which are designed to safeguard their rights and keep alive the memory of those who suffered the consequences of terrorism.
