The Community of Madrid has recorded over 46,000 assistance and management interventions through the Social Housing Agency (AVS) during the first half of 2026.

These figures encompass services provided to citizens and daily support for residents of the region's more than 24,600 public housing units. From January to June, approximately 25,000 of these actions focused on supporting families, mediating in coexistence conflicts, identifying vulnerabilities, and assisting elderly individuals living alone.
To carry out this work, the AVS employs 72 Education and Social Work professionals across Madrid's 21 districts and over 100 municipalities. Their on-the-ground efforts identify tenant needs, offer support in difficult situations, and promote coexistence in public housing developments.
The agency's activities go beyond simply providing housing and managing related procedures. Its teams implement family support programs, neighborhood mediation, and community intervention, alongside early identification of cases requiring specific follow-up, such as seniors experiencing unwanted loneliness. Prevention campaigns on drug use and activities to foster social cohesion are also developed.
Home safety awareness initiatives are also conducted in collaboration with the Fire Department to prevent risks and provide useful guidance for emergencies.
Since May, the new Citizen Service and Information Center has consolidated orientation, registration, appointment scheduling, and preferential service, streamlining procedures and offering more personalized attention, especially for those needing help with administrative processes or electronic channels. Since its launch, over 10,000 rental deposit procedures, 8,200 in-person registrations, 2,500 inquiries, and 750 technical incidents have been managed.
The Community of Madrid maintains all AVS resources throughout the summer, ensuring the continuity of citizen services, intervention, mediation, and neighborhood assistance. Residents can conduct their procedures in person, by phone, or electronically, while professionals continue with orientation, prevention, community integration, and coexistence support.
