Social Security Affiliation in Madrid Exceeds 3.89 Million Contributors

The Community of Madrid recorded a 0.41% increase in April, adding over 15,700 new affiliates and consolidating the upward trend in employment.

The Community of Madrid experienced a significant increase in Social Security affiliation during April, adding 15,765 new contributors and raising the total figure to 3,895,185 employed individuals.

This 0.41% increase in the Madrid region solidifies the positive employment trend, reflecting a year-on-year rise of 3.07%, which translates to 115,862 more affiliates than in the same period last year. The data was released by the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration.
Of the total affiliates in Madrid, the majority, 3,448,233, contribute to the General Regime, while 443,210 are part of the Special Regime for Self-Employed Workers. Other regimes such as the Sea Regime (3,700), the agricultural sector (1,976), and domestic workers (95,936) complete the figures, with no contributors registered in the Coal Regime.

Nationally, Spain surpassed 22 million employed individuals in April, with an average increase of 223,685 contributors compared to March, representing a 1% rise. The average number of affiliates reached 22,105,831, marking the third largest increase recorded in an April month. Over the last year, the system has added 517,192 affiliates, with a year-on-year growth of 2.4%.
The hospitality sector was the main driver of monthly growth nationwide, with 111,335 new affiliates, a 7.4% increase, boosted by hires linked to Holy Week. Significant increases were also observed in administrative activities and wholesale trade, while the education sector experienced job losses during the month.
