The bullfighting event at Las Ventas plaza on June 3rd presented a spectacle of light and shadow for the three advertised bullfighters. José Garrido, in full professional recovery, showed glimpses of his former glory with a classicist performance against a substitute bull from Casa de los Toreros, which he dispatched with a precise sword thrust to earn the only ear of the afternoon. The bull, noble and cooperative, allowed the bullfighter from Extremadura to display his art with verónicas and chicuelinas, although the depth of his passes was sometimes limited.
Meanwhile, young bullfighters Ismael Martín and Samuel Navalón showed immense ambition to climb the ranks. Martín, with complete dedication, sought victory with boldness, occasionally overstepping reasonable limits in his eagerness to succeed. His performance included notable quites and risky moments, culminating in a lap of honor against the fifth bull, which was returned as invalid after inflicting a severe beating on him.
Samuel Navalón also demonstrated bravery, particularly when receiving the final bull at the gate. Despite suffering a spectacular fall and a goring in his right leg, the novillero continued his work with determination, showing a progression from less to more and concluding with bernadinas that resonated with the audience.
The bullfight, featuring bulls from MONTALVO (except the first, replaced by a substitute from Casa de los Toreros, and the sixth, a substitute from Fermín Bohórquez), presented bulls that were generally noble but lacked strength. The plaza was three-quarters full.
