The Community of Madrid has approved an investment of nearly 600,000 euros to enhance home and telephone support services for foster families in the region.

This initiative, managed by the Governing Council, aims to provide comprehensive support to households during the first two years of fostering. It also extends to families who may face challenges in cohabiting with the fostered minor.
The program will feature two specialized teams, each comprising six intervention technicians and a coordinator. These professionals offer continuous assistance to ensure the full integration of minors into their new family environment.

"Foster care involves the full integration of the minor into a family unit, either with their extended family or with an unrelated family, with the latter committing to care for and educate them as a full member."

During 2025, these teams provided support to 53 families and 65 children, accumulating over 10,300 hours of dedicated work to meet their specific needs. Currently, the Community of Madrid has over 1,760 minors in foster care, with 1,086 residing with their extended families and 674 with unrelated families.
