The program Deseos Rodantes, broadcast by Radio Enlace in Hortaleza, has been on air for over two years, establishing itself as an essential platform to highlight the experiences of people with disabilities. The initiative began three years ago when two friends decided to create a project that would evolve into the non-profit association Rodando con la Sexualidad.
The proposal aims to foster open dialogue on topics often considered uncomfortable, such as sexuality, affections, desires, and eroticism within the context of disability. The idea for a dedicated radio program began to take shape after a meeting at the Dulce Chacón Adult Education Center and an initial interview, which spurred the creation of a space for sharing experiences.
The program's team has expanded, incorporating various individuals who contribute with their perspectives and experiences. The accessibility of the premises on Matapozuelos Street and the support from the radio station were crucial in overcoming logistical challenges, including the mobilization of wheelchairs and the pre-production of each broadcast.
Despite speech difficulties that some participants may present, the program emphasizes the importance of creating safe spaces for mutual learning and openness to different realities. This approach seeks to dismantle myths and celebrate the inherent diversity of human sexuality.
“"There is nothing better than learning from others and creating safe spaces where we can open ourselves to other realities. We are diverse and we debunk myths."
Recently, the team decided to reinvent the format, opting to broadcast a bi-weekly program. This adaptation reflects the initiative's ongoing commitment to evolve and continue offering relevant content to its audience, addressing the specificities of reduced mobility and other conditions.
