The president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, officially inaugurated the facilities of GSD Valdebebas School, a center that has reached 1,600 students in just three years, consolidating its position as an educational benchmark in the region.
The event, held on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, served to highlight the rapid development of the school and its integration into the Valdefuentes neighborhood, in the Hortaleza district. Díaz Ayuso emphasized the center's vocation to be an active part of the neighborhood's life, offering an open educational community involved with families, and providing a wide range of artistic, cultural, and sports activities.

"This school was born three years ago with the vocation of being part of the life of this dynamic, young, beautiful neighborhood, and it grows with it, providing an open educational community, involved with families, which also offers artistic, cultural, and sports activities."
The president also highlighted the remarkable increase in enrollment, growing from 360 students to 1,600 in just three academic years. She emphasized an educational model that prioritizes personalized and bilingual attention, recognizing the uniqueness of each student and their individual aptitudes. For his part, José Luis Miranda, president of GSD Cooperativa, framed the inauguration within the institution's trajectory, which celebrates its 41st anniversary, and defended the value of the cooperative model and social economy in the Spanish business landscape.

"A school is one of the few places where each and every one of its elements has been created to help people."
The school's director, Víctor Calvo, recalled the project's beginnings and its evolution to the current facilities, which include a swimming pool, auditorium, gymnasium, and state-of-the-art classrooms. GSD Valdebebas School, which opened its doors in 2023, is projected to exceed 2,500 students, responding to the growth of a young and expanding urban environment. Its educational model is based on cooperative methodology, bilingualism, and comprehensive student development, combining new technologies with traditional approaches.
The event also served to advocate for subsidized education and the freedom of choice for families, a cornerstone of regional educational policy. Díaz Ayuso noted that this modality includes approximately 350,000 students in over 550 centers supported by public funds in the Community of Madrid, highlighting the regional government's commitment to educational plurality.
