The Community of Madrid, through its Vice-Minister of Presidency, José Antonio Sánchez, has visited Galapagar to oversee investments exceeding 3 million euros aimed at enhancing infrastructure and public services in the municipality.

The Vice-Minister of Presidency and Local Administration of the Community of Madrid, José Antonio Sánchez, accompanied by the mayor of Galapagar, Carla Greciano, and members of the Government team, visited the municipality to assess the progress of various strategic projects. These works, with a total investment of over 3 million euros, aim to improve safety, public services, and community living spaces.
The first stop focused on the La Navata bridge, spanning the Guadarrama River. The City Council will invest nearly 700,000 euros to widen its deck and enhance safety for pedestrians and vehicles. The intervention, expected to take approximately six months, is complex due to the bridge's protected status as a Heritage Asset, requiring a balance between functional improvement and historical preservation. Sidewalks will be widened, new safety systems installed, and accessibility issues at one of the main municipal access points will be resolved.
During the visit, Sánchez highlighted administrative delays attributed to the Tajo Hydrographic Confederation, which have postponed the start of the works. He called for greater agility from the General State Administration, mentioning a wait of over two years for a permit and recalling previous cases of up to eight-year waits for similar authorizations.
Subsequently, the delegation moved to the Los Ranchos urbanization, where renovations to the drinking water supply network are underway. This project, funded by the Regional Investment Program (PIR) with an investment exceeding one million euros, will replace the old distribution network to improve system efficiency, reduce breakdowns, and ensure a more stable supply for residents of Los Ranchos and Las Cuestas.
The final stop was at El Toril park, which will undergo a comprehensive renovation with an investment of over one million euros. This 28,000-square-meter space will be transformed into the first open-air bullfighting museum in the Community of Madrid. The project will integrate heritage, nature, technology, and leisure, featuring an exhibition route with smart totems, plant sculptures inspired by bullfighting, emblematic monuments, renovated children's areas, sports zones, pet areas, and new landscape trails.
