The initiative, presented this Tuesday, aims to facilitate family reconciliation and introduce performing arts to the youngest. The workshops, titled Escenarios (im)posibles, creación escénica (Impossible Stages, scenic creation), will run parallel to three selected theater plays.
Children between 6 and 12 years old will participate in scenic creation activities designed by the company La Grieta Teatro Social. The workshops will take place on June 12, 13, and 14, with a maximum of 45 spots per day. Prior registration is mandatory via the Teatros del Canal website.
To access the workshops, adults must have a ticket for one of the three linked plays: 'Los Estunmen' by Nao Albet and Marcel Borràs, 'La dama boba' by Lope de Vega, directed by Josep Maria Mestres, and 'Quien sea llega tarde' by Eusebio Calonge. Children's schedules will be synchronized with each performance.
The Minister of Culture, Tourism and Sport, Mariano de Paco Serrano, highlighted it as a resource for enjoying culture as a family, offering parents peace of mind that their children will be well cared for and learn about dramatic arts. Ruperto Merino, Director of Management for Teatros del Canal, stated the initiative aims to transform the theaters into a vibrant space for intergenerational encounters.
The activity will include the creation of scenic models and paper puppets, as well as an introduction to character development and visual storytelling concepts. Children will use collage techniques with various materials to build imaginary worlds.
