Firefighters Extinguish Fire in Occupied Building in San Blas

Several units worked to extinguish the flames on Lola Flores street, managing to contain the spread and treating two individuals for minor smoke inhalation.

A total of 19 units from the Madrid and Community Fire Departments worked this Sunday to extinguish a fire declared in an occupied building in the San Blas-Canillejas district.

The fire started shortly after 8:30 PM on Lola Flores street, number 5. The joint intervention of 13 units from the Madrid Fire Department and six from the Community of Madrid was necessary because the area is a Joint Action Zone (ZAC).
According to information from Emergencias Madrid, the fire had multiple ignition points and the flames spread up the facade. The crews managed to contain its advance and extinguish the flames.
During the extinguishing efforts, drones from the Municipal Police were used to obtain an aerial view of the affected area.
Municipal Police officers were responsible for the building's evacuation. Meanwhile, SAMUR-Civil Protection attended to a 40-year-old woman and a firefighter who suffered minor smoke inhalation, both of whom were discharged at the scene.
The causes of the fire are currently unknown.
