Fire Controlled in Villaverde Storage Unit Facility

Madrid City Council firefighters have brought the blaze under control, which necessitated the evacuation of a nearby gas station and caused partial roof collapse.

Madrid City Council firefighters have declared the fire at a storage unit facility in the Villaverde district under control, although extinguishing efforts are expected to continue for several hours.

The fire, which started shortly before 6:00 AM in a facility on San Mamés street, severely affected the warehouse, with flames emerging from three of its facades. Fifteen fire crews worked intensely to extinguish the blaze.

As a precautionary measure, a nearby service station was evacuated, and part of the affected warehouse's roof collapsed. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported, although Samur-Civil Protection personnel remain on site.
Municipal Police have established a security perimeter and are managing traffic in the vicinity to facilitate intervention efforts. The Municipal Police's Aerial Support Section is utilizing drones to provide firefighters with an aerial overview of the fire's progression.
