The incident began around 5:20 PM, generating a visible smoke column that prompted the precautionary removal of people present in the complex. The swift action of nine units from the Madrid City Council Fire Department was crucial in controlling and extinguishing the flames, according to reports from Emergencias Madrid.
As a consequence of the incident, medical personnel from Samur-Civil Protection treated a security guard at the scene who suffered mild smoke inhalation. Fortunately, there were no serious injuries.
The Municipal Police implemented traffic diversions in the vicinity of the shopping center to facilitate the work of emergency services and ensure the safety of the area. The evacuation proceeded in an orderly manner, coordinated by the establishment's security staff with support from the Municipal Police and the National Police.
