Emergencias Madrid has released essential advice for participants in the Zurich Rock 'n' Roll Running Series Madrid Marathon, taking place this Sunday, to ensure their well-being and prevent incidents during the event.

Through a video shared on social media, healthcare professionals have appealed for "common sense," particularly targeting those attempting the full 42-kilometer distance for the first time. For these runners, it is suggested to consider shorter options such as the half marathon or the 10-kilometer race.

"Common sense."

Proper hydration and nutrition are fundamental pillars of the recommendations. Participants are advised to have their last meal at least 90 minutes before the race starts, ensuring it is substantial enough to maintain energy levels throughout the course.
Regarding equipment, it is recommended to choose comfortable and loose-fitting sportswear, as well as footwear that has been previously worn to prevent chafing. Additionally, the use of visors or other sun protection items is suggested, given the prolonged sun exposure during the event.
Finally, Emergencias Madrid emphasizes the importance of listening to one's body and stopping at any sign of discomfort. Runners will have the support of over 200 healthcare professionals from Samur-Protección Civil deployed along the entire circuit to provide immediate assistance.
