An 86-year-old man was seriously injured this Wednesday after being hit by a municipal bus from the Empresa Municipal de Transportes (EMT) in Madrid's Chamartín district on López de Hoyos street.

An 86-year-old male suffered serious injuries on Wednesday afternoon after being hit by a municipal bus from the Municipal Transport Company (EMT) of Madrid. The incident occurred around 5:30 PM near number 190 López de Hoyos street, in the Chamartín district.
SAMUR-Civil Protection emergency services quickly arrived at the scene to attend to the victim. After an initial assessment and intervention on the public road, medical personnel managed to stabilize the elderly man, who presented severe head and chest trauma as a result of the impact.
Once stabilized, the patient was urgently transported to La Paz University Hospital. To ensure the speed and safety of the medical transfer, patrols from the Madrid Municipal Police escorted the ambulance convoy to the hospital.
Local police officers have taken charge of the scene and have initiated the corresponding investigation to clarify the circumstances of the pedestrian accident.
