The event, organized by the Madrid Church, will bring together prominent figures in Spanish music such as David Bustamante, Daniel Diges, and Diana Navarro. These artists will perform during the gathering at the iconic stadium, coinciding with the Pope's arrival.
The celebration is part of Pope Leo XIV's agenda in Madrid, which begins on June 6. In addition to the aforementioned names, the concert will feature other musicians including Luis Alfredo, Chito Morales, and Maite López. The Cruz Diez Symphony Orchestra and the Pop Salesianos band will also join, along with choreographer Ismael Olivas and his dancers.
A central element of the day will be a large Church choir in Madrid, comprising a thousand individuals. Of this group, approximately 300 will be children, 70 musicians, and 100 dancers. The musical direction will be led by diocesan priest Toño Casado, parish priest of Nuestra Señora del Pilar.
“"One of the highlights will be the performance of the anthem Alza la mirada, a collaborative work created for the Pope's visit and to be performed by all voices of the Madrid Church Family Choir."
The musical repertoire, accompanying the prayer and celebration of the entire diocese, will include compositions by classical and contemporary authors, from Beethoven to Kiko Argüello, Hakuna, Francisco Palazón, Juan Antonio Espinosa, Luispo, Father Ozores, Agustín Lara, Toño Casado, or Diego Torres. The gathering will commence approximately two hours before the Pope's arrival at the stadium.
